The UK is turning into an increasingly popular place for show business, with filming in the UK seriously picking up since the end of the pandemic. These aren’t just limited to smaller and more local TV shows, but also some big names with international stars and global audiences.
Here are some of the biggest TV shows filming in the UK in 2023.
The Crown
The Crown might be about the British monarchy but it’s a show that has been popular across the whole world, with massive stars including Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville and Elizabeth Debicki, with Dominic West as Prince Charles.
The most-watched episode of Netflix’s new series of The Crown in November 2022 attracted 2.87 million viewers across all devices. The new series is being aired at the end of 2023 and as the final series, set to be just as popular.
The Gentlemen
A spin off from the 2019 film, this TV show The Gentlemen is going to be Guy Richie’s TV directing debut, based around the same themes. There is some big British talent and iconic names to include Joely Richardson, Kaya Scodelario and Vinnie Jones, and this is filming in the UK across the South of England.
‘The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power’
After the massive success of the initial season in 2022, Amazon Prime are bringing Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power back to our television screens with a brand new seasons. The return to Middle Earth is a big budget event currently being filmed in Hertfordshire and in Windsor, and is set to delight Tolkien fans. New additions to the cast include Stuart Bowman, William Chubb and Gavi Singh Chera.
