Despite the recent UK challenges of Brexit and a global, the UK is currently enjoying a record-breaking level of TV and film production. According to statistics from the British Film Institute (BFI) in February 2022, an impressive £5.6bn was spent on film and high-end TV production in the UK in 2021; the highest figure ever, driving demand for UK film studio space.

They also noted that between 2017 and 2019 the industry created 219,000 jobs, and the signs are showing that this increase is set to continue. A skills forecast by ScreenSkills in June 2022 found that film and high-end TV production is likely to hit between £7.07bn and £7.66bn annually by 2025, with 15,310 and 20,770 additional crew members needed to keep up.

In the meantime, there are several years to go until that target is reached and filmmakers are making the most of the UK film studio space as well as the multiple possible locations across the country. It isn’t always huge studio spaces required and there is demand for film studios of all sizes, including those with green screens and L screens.

Tannery Studios

Tannery Studios offers a choice of three larger video filming studios and 2 smaller ones onsite of varying styles, one of which comes with a convenient green screen that spans the width of the room and one of which comes with an ‘L screen’. The rooms have a modern and urban feel with loads of space to bring your own backdrop, equipment, and props. They benefit from a range of natural light with either large windows or skylights. Outside the windows are stunning views of the surrounding Surrey countryside including the River Wey and a National Trust park.
